The service
VTT Subtitle Editor is a free browser-based tool for opening, editing, previewing, validating, and exporting subtitle files. The service is provided without an account. Features, availability, and supported browser behavior may change.
Your files and responsibility
You retain any rights you have in files you edit. You are responsible for having permission to use the subtitle and media content you select, reviewing the output, keeping backups, and confirming that a destination platform accepts the result. Do not use the site to violate law, intellectual-property rights, privacy rights, or the security of the service or others.
Local processing is not a backup
The editor is designed to process files locally. A browser draft is a convenience, not durable storage. Browser settings, private mode, storage limits, clearing site data, software updates, or device failure can remove it. Download important work and keep your own source copy.
No professional or platform guarantee
Validation and readability warnings are technical aids, not legal, accessibility, localization, or broadcast advice. A warning-free file is not guaranteed to comply with every platform, house style, law, or accessibility requirement. SRT export is intentionally lossy because SRT cannot represent every WebVTT feature.
Availability and warranty disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, or error-free output.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost data, lost revenue, or business interruption arising from use of or inability to use the site. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid to use this service in the prior twelve months or US$10.

The site relies on hosting and analytics providers and may link to specifications or third-party resources. Their services and content are governed by their own terms and policies; links do not imply endorsement.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms or suspend access to protect the service, comply with law, or make product changes. The date above identifies the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
